The Bully Report Form is a web application built on the .NET Core framework. It allows users to report bullying incidents at the WESD, verifying reporter email addresses to discourage anonymity. The app also has an Admin portal allowing district personnel investigate, respond to, and track reports.

Problem

School districts are legally required to offer forms for reporting bullying incidents. In addition, the district must keep these reports for a minimum of 6 years. To satisfy these requirements, the WESD was managing paper forms, which required constant stocking/printing, moving to the district office, and physically storing the reports. Students may have felt intimidated to ask for a paper form to submit, and submitted forms could often be lost.

Solution

I built an online form for submitting bullying incidents. Students and other users can access the form from anywhere at any time. School admin are notified of submissions immediately, and an admin portal allows them to investigate and respond to reports. In addition, reports can be stored indefinitely in a database.

Impact

Paper forms no longer need to be physically stored, and students have convenient access to the form whenever it may be needed. Digitizing the reporting process has allowed district personnel to see bullying incidents across campuses, while still giving investigative power to school admins.
